About Roslyn Village
The
village of Roslyn is centrally located and includes the historic town center and the Roslyn Clock Tower. The Main Street Historic District area is bounded on the east by the waters of Roslyn Pond and on the west by steep upward slopes. The only street that crosses Main Street is Old Northern Boulevard. This geographic separation has been credited with helping the district retain its historic character. Many of the homes located in this area were built in the 19th century, before the civil war. True to the era, most of the
Roslyn Village homes are either the Federal or Greek Revival style.
Today it is known for its collection of beautifully restored houses and buildings, historic monuments and vibrant Downtown. It is also home to the Bryant Library which hosts lectures, book signings and art exhibits and Gerry Park, a beautiful 16 acre green space in the middle of the Village where you can sleigh ride in the winter and enjoy outdoor concerts during the summer. The Downtown is filled with many wonderful shops and restaurants. You can make a day of it strolling through Roslyn, enjoying its natural beauty, its historic structures and browsing its one of kind boutiques, taking a break to have a leisurely lunch at any one of the casual spots, or staying later and dining at one of the many excellent restaurants.
With a variety of neighborhoods, each special in its own way, Roslyn is a wonderful place to live and raise a family. It has a great school district, a strong sense of community, a solid infrastructure, a commitment to preservation, and a policy of responsible growth.
